What Color Are You?

October Newsletter 2023

I learned something today that is going to seem random, but I promise I will tie it in to your life quickly!

We all know that leaves change colors in the Fall, but I bet you didn’t know this. The color that a leaf becomes in the fall is actually the pigment that lives inside of that leaf all year long. The rest of the year, that leaf is green because it’s full of chlorophyll, which is a green pigment that it absorbs from the sun, not its own true color. That chlorophyll overpowers the leaf’s natural pigment and goes right to the tree, keeping the tree alive. So essentially, the leaves take on this green color in order to feed their tree, and, in doing so, their own innate color is temporarily hidden.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

How often do you feel like motherhood asks you to “turn green” in order to nurture the life of someone(s) else? Maybe you quit your job to be a mom. Maybe you moved away from your support system to start a family. Maybe you lost your social life because you can’t go out anymore. Maybe you’ve lost a little bit of your light because you are buried with obligations, overwhelm, or fatigue. Those pre-mom parts of you are not lost; they are temporarily on hold while you “feed your tree.” And that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be! Nature even shows us!

What I’d like to ask you next is, if you were a leaf, what “color” would you be in the Fall? By color I mean, WHO would you be?

Because one day your tree will not need so much of you. One day your tree will feed itself and be ready to shed their attachment to you. The Spring will turn into Fall. (Don’t cry, their needs don’t disappear, they just change, and it’s a beautiful evolution, you’ll see!) But when that shedding begins, you will see that your innate colors are ready to come out again, and they are bursting with even more vivid hues of amber, orange, and crimson thsn you had pre-motherhood. Your color is just waiting to emerge as you embody this new, fuller version of you.

You are a beautiful green leaf right now, but wait til you see how you shine when you are YOUR color again.

Who will you be then? How will you greet the you that you get to reacquaint with? How will you navigate the emotions around your changing role as a mom? What does living intentionally look like for you, fresh out of the fog that is new motherhood?

We explore these types of questions in our weekly social groups called Mom Pods. Mom Pods are 4-6 moms who meet on zoom each week, led by trained group leaders. Pods are a unique social experience where you’ll build deep friendships and explore the meaningful questions and topics not often discussed amidst the chaos of motherhood.

We invite you to try out a pod. Check out our testimonials and website, or email “info” to team@mompods.com to learn more. Early members and former clients get special pricing. Fall groups are starting now.
