Postpartum Doula

I was born and raised on the West Side of Detroit, and from a young age I became very aware of the disparities in maternal and infant health with Black and African American communities.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Women & Gender studies and a Masters in Social Work, I realized that my true lifelong calling was to support parents and families as they transitioned into the postpartum phase of their pregnancy journeys.
I gave birth to my daughter via C-section and I personally witnessed the benefit of having postpartum support, whether it was my doula taking care of the baby while I slept or bathed; washing dishes; or sitting with my husband and me to talk about first time parent jitters. Utilizing postpartum support truly helped me with my own healing both mentally and physically.
I’ve been a practicing social worker for 5 years, and I’ve been working with families as a postpartum doula for almost 3 years now, with additional training in herbalism, Ayurvedic concepts and energy work (Reiki). I believe that each and every family is unique, and because of that I strive to provide services that meet the current and ongoing needs of parents, caregivers and loved ones
